Become a Referee
“If you don’t like what the refs are calling, then become one yourself.”
We like to say it with a smile — and we mean it in the best way possible!
Our referees are a vital part of the game, and we truly appreciate the time and effort they give to support our players. We’re always looking for new referees, and no prior experience is required. Training and testing are straightforward and designed to set you up for success. Once certified, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to work games, stay active, and earn pay while being a positive role model and mentor for our youth.
We take sportsmanship seriously and maintain a zero-tolerance policy for poor behavior toward referees, players, coaches, and spectators. Our association works closely with the TCSL to follow established rules and safety standards so referees can feel supported and confident on the field.
If you’re interested in learning more or giving refereeing a try, please reach out to a Board Member during a game or contact us by email or through the message form below. We’re happy to answer questions and help you get started.
Why Ref?
Becoming a referee is a great way to stay involved in the game while making a positive impact in our soccer community.
Here are just a few reasons people choose to referee:
- Get paid to stay active — it’s a great way to earn money while getting your steps in
- Flexible scheduling — choose games that fit your availability
- No experience required — training and testing are designed for beginners
- Be a role model — help teach respect, fairness, and sportsmanship on the field
- Learn the game — refereeing builds a deeper understanding of soccer
- Supportive environment — referees are backed by the association and protected by our zero-tolerance sportsmanship policy
- Great for teens and adults — an excellent opportunity for students, parents, and community members alike
If you’re curious but unsure, we encourage you to give it a try — many of our referees started with questions and quickly found it to be a rewarding way to be involved.
